New to Road Diesel Vehicles, But not new to Diesels. From Canada.
Well here i sit wondering how in the world to Start...Oh look i started.
I'm from British Columbia, Canada
Just Picked up my New (to me) Truck yesterday Its a 98 GMC Sierra 2500 ext.Cab Long box With Of Course The 6.5, First Diesel Truck that i have owned. now to how i ended up with it. About year and half ago i got a Free 81 gmc Sierra 1500 from a guy that was getting a new truck and all he wanted was the engine out of the sierra so i ended up with basically a boat anchor it of course had a 350 in it before i yanked it out for the guy, So there it sat wanting for me to find a new engine which ended up being harder then i thought. Then about 4 months ago i picked up a 350 for $400 that was Ready to go in, Got in got it running sort of but needed a new carb so there it sat Again and by this time i was cruising craigslist for Carbs and ideas for Upgrade i could to do to the truck. Then my buddy started talking about the great deals you could get on a Dodge with a Cummins so i started looking in to them never really found anything for a reasonable price but also never really cared for the look of them unless it was 92 or older with the Square Style body.
Long story short i just started searching Craigslist for Diesel i Literally mean that (Search "Diesel") for weeks and saw a few chevys and gmcs with the 6.5 which is good Engine aslong as it was taken care but nothing in good shape and there i found it the Perfect truck a 98 Gmc Sierra Diesel with No rust!
Haven't got any Great Pictures since i Picked it up but here's a side by side shot and one from Craigslist.
So the truck was a Company truck used by a A/C company in Colorado then was bought by a guy up here to be used as his work truck but turns out he got a Company truck instead, but anyway the truck was meticulously maintained and also its the first Diesel I have ever seen that doesn't mark its territory every time you park it. Also came with a L shaped Tidy tank, Toolbox and headache rack (which is going to be replaced) which is perfect as i am an operator. Also since it was a company truck it Came with Every receipt since 98 and i mean everything $1 light bulb is in there. and it was a to good of a price to Pass up at 4200.
Ok so a little about my self now,
I am 17, been operating Excavators Since i was 5 and everything else that has a hydraulic pump.
Also i am excellent Fabricator and Just got my "C" cert. in welding this passed spring/summer . Pretty much a "Jack of All Trade" and a Firm beleaver that the Trades Keep the World running.
Well look forward to being a Part of this Great forum.
