Default duramax loosing prime

for all who are having this problem, yes it can be anything but do this first and 90% of the time it is a free fix....... FREE..... most of the time if you are having to pump up the fuel preasure after a start then die situation do this and within 24 hours your problem will be fixed..... this issue is usually due to the pump seal on your filter mount. take a shot glass full of vegtable oil and while pushing down on the pump plunger (hold it down) pour the veg oil around the space at the base of the plunger. this will allow the seal to become coated with the oil and within a few hours it will soften the once dry seal and whala you now have fixed your problem.... if this worked great... if not your problem lies somewhere else..... this has worked on several trucks and if it works for you let others know on this forum....good luck from mike

please see my other post Pour vegtable oil around your pump plunger on the filter adapter. do this while holding it down to create a gap that the oil will run into and after doing this the seal will be softened to the point that it will maintain the proper seal and no more bleed off... workes 90% of the time and as long as you oil the seal with every oil change you will never be stranded for this issue again.....

of course if your seal is to far gone you can purchase the entire rebuild gasket set for 21.00 from MudJack Racing, 330 Zachary St. Unit 106, Morepark CA. 93021-2072 consists of 2 cup seals and 4 o-rings if the oil check works you know which seal it is thats causing you the problem.

This worked like a champ. After priming, it would run until I turned it off, then, start and stall, requiring a priming. After this oil trick, no more issues!

Thanks!

I know it's an old thread, but a bump can't hurt.
