#8 injector removal on a C4500
I am newbie here, but have 15 years experience as a diesel tech, mainly fords. I just started working for a guy who has 30 plus years of experience and is a ford master tech and ase cert med/heavy and auto master tech. This guy knows his fords inside and out. I am currently working a 2005 GMC kodiak c4500 with a LLY duramax 247,485 miles. The number two injector has dumping out fuel so I have a fuel knock. I pulled all glow plugs, and cranked engine over, #2 spraying tons of fuel out.. ran compression test, all at 620-630psi. So i am pulling all injectors to have them tested. 1-7 came out super easy, 8 on the other hand is a pain in the tail end. drivers side rear of engine, injector only comes out a little and then hits bottom of cab. I am having a hard time figuring a way to get this out. i have removed transmounts and dropped tranny down to tilt engine down, just need like a half inch, Im at the point were im going to pull the engine motor mounts and drop engine as I drop tranny. Anyone ever done one of these before.
i haven't worked on one of those before, but you cant pull the dog house for extra clearance?
if you have to you just might have to loosen the motor mount and let the engine sag down to pull it out.
