Default coolant out overflow

Bully Dog powerpup coldair intake and stock exhaust without the muffler

so as this problem started in the summer when I was towing my 5th wheel the truck spit out a bit of coolant out the over flow I figure not a big deal it's warm the truck is working but it does not over heat... so I notice my coolant light come on as i'm driving to work one morning the truck sits all day and after work I fire it up and within 2 min take the cap off to add coolant and there's pressure... well I figure this is the early stages of a head gasket but wouldn't you know GM says they can't find any thing wrong. so as the months pass it is now colder here in Alberta Canada since it has gotten colder this truck is acting up full time! the truck will spit out coolant randomly blow cold air at a stop light when you pull away we have heat again(low on coolant right) GM says no that it's an air bubble. but how do Duramax's suddenly create a air bubble is my question? they don't know, they do know that air bubbles are hard to get out! what a surprize... so after going there a couple more times for the heating they say they have it figured out the water pump is leaking.. wow a brain storm if the truck pushes out coolant and it is low then there is not enough lubercants in there for the seals right! so we are all fixed and GM figures they got it beat but the problem is still there. so now that i've been in this dealership so many times they recognise me and we still have this ongoing problem my patience are running very thin by this point they say that the Duramax likes it's heat so they give me a winter front.
well what do ya think happens next... yup still doing the same thing..

would the programer cause me all this grief or is this some other gremlin in there i've tried the truck with the programer on all settings and with out the programer and still the same although not as often as stock.... I'M STUMPED

i don't know much about the bully dog but i'd don't think it would cause your truck to lose coolant. have you tried to replace the coolant cap? i remember someone in the past with this kind of problem and i think they finially diagnosed the coolant cap being the fault. cost is cheap and worth the try. jm $.02

You've got a head gasket problem. Take it to another dealer......make sure the Bully Dog is gone though.

yes the cap was checked as far as GM says and the coolant system was pressured up over night so they say...

so wouldn't you know it the truck spit out coolant again when I was towing a trailer... so I went back to the medics again and got a tad bit PISSED OFF and told them that I was tired of going there and getting the same results every time and they had one more shot at fixing this and that was it...i'm ready to go somewhere else! well wouldn't you know it I drop the truck off and that evening they call me and say that they figure the head gaskets are gone???? well what a surprise

don't get me wrong I couldn't fix them myself but come on comon knowledge told me this was the problem from day one why did it take so much bitching to get here?

Did they replace the head gaskets? Was it still under warranty? Most important did it fix your overflowing problem? Ive got the exact same problem on mine.

Just had the same problem and it was the head gasket caused by the EGR cooler. Delete the cooler replace the head gaskets and put studs back in the heads instead of the factory bolts. If you take the EGR cooler out you will have to get a finger stick so the computer thinks the ERG is still there. You can find out if it is the head gasket by having some one do a leak test on each cylinder.

Actually the general consensus is that it was the poor design of the gaskets that GM used in the duramaxes from 01 to early 06 trucks, if your truck was made after march 2006 then you have the better layered and designed gaskets, Grade C is the way to go when it comes to replacement gaskets, and the stock headbolts are good for more than the stock turbocharger and push
