Default New to the diesel world. Help?

Ok so I've traded for an 05 duramax crew cab 4x4. Bone stock with 185k miles. I'm thinking bout doin some upgrades (programmer, straight pipe exhaust, s&b intake with elbow). Not exactly sure wat to do first or even if the truck can hold up to it with the mileage so any help would be appreciated

How much are you looking to push? Sorry to disagree but the Allison is the best transmission out of factory. And the EFI live seems to work well on my dads 04.5 duramax. He's also got an egr delete kit. But watch your temps. These motors had head gasket problems.

And 185k is low miles. It's still new!

I had to get a new high performance torque converter because were the threads are welded on mine cracked off cause the trans is rated for like 550 foot pounds out of the factory i had to get new sprockets plates spindle and everything else i ended up droppin about 5 grand in just the trans
