Default turbo dies on hills

Ok so i'm new so i'll start off with a stupid question that dont make sense to me at all. so got a 01 2wd, that the when goin up a fairly decent incline the turbo just seems to fall off, n then gauge will read 7 pounds n feels like its surgging, i hafta limp it to top of the incline n once on flat , back to normal no problem.. and dunno if makes a diff. fig. out it is a IHI turbo and not stuck gARett, which i also believe is a smaller turbo! any info greatly appreciated!!

its got 270000. what confuses me is, my brother had a 02 an had one of those poweraid cyclones or what ever u call it?? it wont fit in mine? and another thing is but the ppe boost fooler on an would open wastegate at 35 all time. and jus seems to me that it spools really quick, n gets lil high on egt.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

was IHI only turbo offered on 01-04? or was garretts available?

yeah its supposed to open the wg at that psi, you get roughly 10psi more boost with the boost valve.

yeah the IHI was only on the 01-04 dmaxes.

270000 is alot of miles, maybe the cp3 could be giving you grief, usually you get symptoms of the going bad towing or going up hills
