het soak issues?

Default het soak issues?

Hi all. First Duramax recently purchased, after about 50 miles of driving I start losing power, trans temp around 200 water around 220, truck came with PPE boost fooler and liftpump of unknown origin or make. Throwing no codes or cel, shut down cool off and restart power comes back for another 50 miles then issues again. Also I start seeing a light gray smoke occasionaly at stoplights, applying full throttle leaving light smoke goes away, casualy leaving light smoke stays. Any thoughts?

light grey smoke at idle i would check balance rates on the injectors!

Stealership claims rates are in spec, I disconnected the PPE overboost fooler and my issues seem to have disappeared for now. We'll see.w

Noticing the lable reads LBZ instead of LB7 is there a possible difference in the electronics?

Not sure I wouldn't think an lbz would plug in but I don't know. It very well could be something wrong with the fooler leave it unplugged for a few days and see how it goes

LBZ and LB7 use two completely different turbochargers, most electronics are not interchangeable

This is the LB7 overboost code eliminator, As far as I can see there isn't one for the LBZ......

thats what i thought is that the lbz didn't have one but wasn't sure

with the LBZ using a variable geometry turbocharger the ECM has direct control over how much boost is being made with that turbo, so it can never over boost if you have a tuner etc.

with the LB7 having a fixed geometry turbo some tuners/modules allow the turbo to overboost, usually over the ECM parameters, and that will throw a code, the code eliminator is just that, just fools the ECM into thinking that boost levels are within stock parameters even when you are above them

if you aren't running a tuner(or are running EFIlive) you don't need a code eliminator

I thought only the LB7 had the eliminator as well, but as you can see this shows LBZ. It would be good for someone from PPE to explain this one. Also not sure what the P/O has done to the ECM as I bought the truck from a dealer. P/O also ran an aux tank, liftpump, and air springs in back. After removing the overboost eliminator there has been no smoke, boost guage still only shows 20 PSI max. Even disconnecting the wastegate boost doesn't rise above 20 psi.
