Default Replaceing FAN on an LB7

Does anyone know how to get the fan off on an LB7? Do you have to unloosen the big nut on the clutch? If so HOW??? Or will the clutch mechanisim come off from the front of the fan?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

you have to use something to hold the pulley so you can fit a fan wrench on the nut, some people have had some luck taking it off with an air hammer on the nut.

i use a fan wrench and a very long pair of 90* needle nose plisers. there is some holes in the face of the fan pulley you can hook something in there while you break the nut loose. it just takes the right tools its not hard at all

Where do you get a "fan wrench" for that nut on the clutch? I thought I read somewhere that it was a 1 7/8 wrench adn are you able to get enough grip with a set of needle nose pliers? I've heard that it's super tight which is why some have used an air hammer. The thought of using an air hammer / chisel to loosen it seems like it would tear it up.

i rent a fan wrench from an auto part store, its a 1-7/8 or 88mm. You must of read the DIY i made for the water pump replacement, i mentioned using needle nose and fan wrench for it.

Rental seems to be the plan unless I want to plan for the inevitable water pump failure. DO you know i f the thread is RH or LH on a 2002 LB7???

Thanks. Is this thing crazy tight where you need a 4 ft cheater bar or no big deal with a normal wrench?

nope, not at all, when i put it on i do it by hand and let the motor torque it down for me cause the rotation of the motor keeps it from backing out

The last two times I removed the fan, I used a pipe wrench.
