I've noticed a strong diesel smell while truck is running and after shutdown. Fuel mileage is less than expected aprox. 14-16. After installing exhaust noticed what sounds like a miss when directly behind the tailpipe. Does this sound like a bad injector(s) to anyone. Only had truck about a month. Has 120xxx on it, but has built date of 12/01 so have to act soon to try for warranty.

 

Pull the dipstick and see if if the oil is mixed with diesel and the level is very high on the dipstick. That's one quick and easy sign. Other than that, you'll need a scanner to read balance rates.

 

yup, oil pan filled up with diesel fuel and overflowed though the breather tube when mine failed.

 

Check for oil in the pan and balance rates. If you have a bad injector don't let them try and bs you into changing only the, "bad ones" They will all go bad on you year truck.

 

Wife took truck to dealer today injectors okay, fuel rail was leaking. That explains the fuel smell, don't know about the rest (she has the truck with her still).
