Default Moving the PMD

Hey;

So I'm thinking about moving the PMD from it's original position to someplace off of the engine. Do I need to purchase the cable to do this, or can I just cut and lengthen the wires (with soldering and shrink tubing) and get a nice heat sink with heat transfer grease? Thanks.

i cut and lengthened wires, has been working fine for a loooong time. i added resistors in the harness to equal that of a no.9 also. just make sure you label them or something so you dont get them mixed up. there are two red wires that look alot alike. and yes, use a heat sync and grease.

OK, this sounds good. I'll be doing this fairly soon. What is this #9 resistor thing that I hear about? What does it do and how does one make this modification? Thanks again.

the resistor is located between the connector and the pmd. normally, the 6.5s come with a no.5 or no.6. changing the resistance between two wires will make the computer slightly richen or lean the motor. the no.9 is as high of a resistance that you can use without throwing a code (tried it, i put whats equivalent to a no.13 or so in there) you simply pull out your factory one in the connector with a pick or bent paperclip or however you choose. then put the new one in. more info in the link.
