Default questions on MPG'S

Haven’t been online for a bit. Just looking to upgrade my MPG’S on my 1998 ¾ 4x4 6.5 turbo. It has stock tires and 4.10 gearing. I get 15-18 mpg normally. I am not worried about towing power. I tried 4 inch exhaust, mpg’s went down! Then necked the tail pipe down to 1 ¾ I.D. , mpg’s back up to normal. I was thinking of an injector upgrade, heard ssd’s fuel miser’s work great, some say work awful. I need to change a few, they dribble. Also was looking for an aftercooler but I have found none. Not a big deal, I work for a heat exchanger manufacture, and can make one. Mostly what I am searching for is either 1) a programmer that I can change, or 2) have my computer reflashed. Also just curious if I manually set my waste gate to give more boost, will that trigger a problem code since throttle position will not be changing? My thoughts on more turbo boost is you effectively raise the compression ratio, and not increase fuel…. Your thoughts?

No codes. I havn't messed with it yet. I have some oil pressure problems. Either is a bad oil filter, or pressure sending unit. Each time i start it it takes awhile for the gauge to show pressure. I am going to maybe have my computer flashed, maybe set timing ahead a bit. Not sure.... Will have to keep researching here, see what i find. But any other tips are appreciated!!
