Default AC Problem

I seem to be having an intermittent problem with the clutch in the AC system. When I turn off the engine (ignition key in OFF position) the clutch stays energized. I didn't notice it the first time and it drained both batteries dead. While re-installing the batteries after charging them I noticed a clicking. Found the magnetic clutch was engaging. I removed the connector on top of the AC compressor, finished connecting the batteries, and started the engine. Everything was fine except the AC clutch is staying energized even though I have the AC (and defrost) turned off. Is there a relay someplace in the circuity that might be getting stuck? Any ideas? Thanks.

I'll look to see if there is an AC relay under the hood. I did re-charge the AC about a month ago as I had to change out the accumulator due to a bad O-ring on the pressure switch. It's been working great for the last month.

if you recharge it sometimes you can put too much in and it will constantly spin the clutch wether its on or off
notice when you charged it the compressor would spin and stop. spin and stop, untill it was full and just constantly spin? if it is too much pressure it will make it spin

sounds stupid but ive seen it happen HVAC is a pain.

ALTHOUGH if there is a relay, you can see it works by taking the cap off and pushing the relay to the spool. if it spins the AC only when you touch it, its not the relay

Hey;

I found the AC relay in the fuse panel under the hood. Pulled it out and beat it on the fender a couple of times. The mag clutch and the AC system is working fine, but will order up the AC relay and get it installed soon. Thanks for all of the help.
