EGR
I have a 6.5l with an egr. can i just remove the egr from the intake and make a plate to close it back in or do i need to find a intake from a vin f that never had an egr? any help would be great thanks.
yeah you can put a plate but a vin f intake manifold flows better. it looks like you got a 1996 so your going to need a tune to completey remove a egr without codes and other computer crap that happens when you unhook the egr.
Is this truck going to remain stock or are you turning it up? If its staying stock I would just leave the egr on it. I have a 94 1 ton without egr and a 95 3/4 ton with egr and I cant tell a difference in them. It's like a #9 res. supposed to add power I don't think anything they ever did to them from the factory added power.
the point of deleting the egr isnt for power really its for cleaning out your engine. have you ever seen the inside of a 6.5 inatke manifold with a egr. there is carbon everywhere. so much so that after a while it can clog your intake runners.
Yes I know it dirty s it up. What I am trying to say is basically the same thing you said earlier that it's not just taking the egr of and throwing it away. You have to put a different ecm on or fool the one you have into thinking it has an egr still on it. If you are just driving the truck I wouldn't take it off I don't think the money spent $300-$500 so you don't have to run a garden hose through the intake every 100,00 miles or so when you have the intake off is worth it. Now if you are planing on running a after market ecm thats a different story I would remove the egr.
