How do you actually diagnose the OPS? I just replaced mine, figuring I was going to keep the truck so it would eliminate one more problem area.

sometimes oil pressure will go down like you have a tired motor but just out of the blue. lift pump wont run. stuff like that. they sell a kit to retrofit the ops above the intake for easy access so you can replace it fast since there common to go and there cheap

Thanks for the reply. I did see somewhere a schematic of a relay to take the load off the OPS. I will eventually do that addition, but for now I need to get this beast to at least fire!!!

Woody, I know I should start a new thread, but we seem to be at the end of this one and I've got you here. I know very little about this Chev. I basically bought it "as is", not running. I'm kinda the eternal optimist--think I can fix anything! I've done some basic things. Have fuel, LP works, batteries turn over engine, OH- it has oil.

Codes I found: 18,35,44,45,49,54,62,81,82,83. Hey, 10 out of 80 isn't too bad. I'm kinda leaning towards a rebuilt IP, injectors, and GP's, however I probably need to check the compression before I do all that just to be sure I've got an engine when I get done.

From your experience what do these code tell you? Thanks again.

18=Pump cam reference pulse error
35=Injection pulse width error (time short)
44=EGR pulse width error
45=EGR vent error
47=Intake air temp. sensor circuit low(high temp)
54=PCM fuel circuit error
62=Turbo boost sensor circuit low

I don't know what the 81, 82, 83 code refer to.

to tell you the truth i dont have a lot of expereince. all my knowledge comes from working on my truck and getting info on other sites. lets not jack dgroves thread, start a new one with all the info on the truck and what youve done with it.
