i found a 1997 GMC 6.5 with 164,000 miles on it for sale. when it first start it smokes white for about a minute but once it starts to warm up the smoke goes away. is that normal. and what should i look for? any problems that are normal for these types of truck? any weak links? thanks

 

hmmmm, is it using any fluids? might be dirty injectors. try a diesel purge, and maybe see if there's any air in the lines, which develope over night hence alittle grey in the morning only. or it might be a dead glow plug as well?

 

thats what my truck was pretty much doing. after new injectors and glowplugs its good as new
