Im tring to help out a friend here... problem is:

1998 6.5 turbo diesel in a 4x4 3500 DRW chevy (or gm cant remember)
If you push on the pedal it will spit and spudder, along with blowing black smoke
It will idle fine.....

replaced the fuel filters
replaced cam sensor
replaced lift pump

It will run fine one day (or a few days) then it will act up and you cant drive it.

Any ideas guys?

my be dirty injectors or bad injectors or bad fuel pump. start with dirty injector first.

 

I dont think he has had it anywhere to check for codes. Ill toss him some Howes to try in the fuel
