I have a 1993 6.5 turbo after it has ran for about a half hour it will stall,it will start back up but stall 10 seconds later,after letting it sit for a hour or so it will start back up fine.
I have changed the lift pump,fuel filter and oil pressure switch so far does this sound like a injection pump problem?
I just bought this truck with 180xxx on it and I noticed someone has replaced the fuel lines with rubber could this cause a problem also I have removed the gas cap to see if there was any pressure and there was none any help would be appreciated thanks...

 

there are a few guys that know the 6.5's really good unfortunately im not one of them, just be patient and keep checking back someone will answer it

 

One way to check for a leak in the fuel line is pressure the fuel tank up with air to about 10lbs. Look underneath the truck and hood and see if there is any fuel dripping or spraying out anywhere.

 

Lift pump relay possibly? When I replaced my lift pump I also replaced the lift pump relay and OPS.

I know from experience that my truck would smoke white pretty bad after start knowing that my injectors were leaking fuel into the cylinders which was a sign of bad injectors but it never stalled. My truck now smokes white after start up because I have turned up my fuel screw all the way up.

One way to be certain that your lift pump is working is; after you shut off the truck you should hear the lift pump running for a couple of seconds after shut down. Try bleading the air out of the fuel lines, I always gound out the lift pump fuse (while the truck is off and key is turned off, you should hear the lift pump running when doing this) and let it build A LITTLE pressure then open up the outlet on top of the fuel filter. Another thing to check is to make sure your water drain is completly closed because I know my truck would stall whenever I opened that up while it was running. Could be that fuse also!!!

Where exactly did they replaced the fuel lines at? Mine only has rubber lines after the fuel filter to the IP.

My tank almost always has pressure in it when I take off the cap but then again I only fill up once a month.

 

Thanks for the help someone has replaced all the fuel lines with rubber.Never thought about the relay where abouts is it located?
I have the tank out right now checking the sending unit seems to be fine.I guess I'll keep trying but it better get fixed soon because I have my eye on a 454!!

 

I don't know about those rubber lines, personally I would replace all those with stock hard lines that way you can run biodiesel in the future.

For the lift pump relay look for that black box on the passengers side of the firewall. Take those 3 plastic holders off and take the cover off. There you should find the relay and the lift pump fuse (which is the one that you want to ground out to send fuel to the motor (while the motor is OFF))

Ok snowmobiling season is over so it's back to the truck.I have changed the fuel lines and ran steel where I could,pulled the gas tank and it has a fairly new sending unit.
Now when the truck is running and I open the T-valve the truck will stall from what I have read this means the lift pump is no good right?
This is a new lift pump I am wondering if I have a defective one.Going today to get a new lift pump relay just to be on the safe side before I order a new lift pump....
