Default PITA Gauges

No, not an anti fur thread. I have an old 88 K3500 that was ordered with no gauges, A/C,etc, yet it has a casette player..... Anyhoo, I bought an A pillar 3 gauge pod and some cheap gauges, Oil/Volts/Temp. My problem is the where to hook up the Water temp gauge. Can I just remove the sending unit to the idiot light and put it there or is there somewhere else to tap the little 6.2 and keep the idiot light as backup? this is not my first oil burner but first 6.2, I really appreciate the help. Thanks, Craig

I just removed the sender and stuck it in there. I thought about the T as well but no way to stick the probe through there. I am all gauged up now...
