Yeah I though I was loosing my marbles to when I thought of that. But now that I see sombody has already accomplished that it is possible and that would be an awesome swap. But the Chevy Frame would look better with the CAT.

What about a 3176 CAT engine for $4,500?I know they don't have alot of room underneath the hood but they still have more room than what a Ford of the Same year does.

A 3176 is pretty big. That's my favorite Caterpillar highway powerplant.

Actually, with enough time, money, and talent....anything is possible. More of one means needing less of the other two, but for all practical purposes you're looking at a serious project to put any of the larger sized engines in a pickup truck.

there is enough room for a 3208 in a 88-98 fullsize chevy, they was a 1 ton around here a a good number of years back with an eaton 13spd in it, they used it to haul camper trailers all around the maritimes and new england states. Eventually the front end let go, just a 2wd but that is still a lot of weight for a stock front end...

A buddy of mine had a ford with the 3208T in it. They used the ole double stick manual trans too. It had a 5spd primary with a 4spd aux trans. They also fabricated an intercooler into the mix as well. Was no speed demon but it would pull with the best of em. Never had to shift pulling the hills like he used to with the ol 6.9 in it.
