Default IP replacement problems

Hello I have just replaced my IP and have been driving the truck for about a week since with no problems. When I bought the truck recently I replaced the pmd and relocated it to the fender well. At the time I did not know that I needed a resistor so when I found that I need one I ordered a number 9 from ssdieselsupply.com This morning I used the KOKO method to do a TDC relearn. Anyway after that the truck does not want to start and when I do get it to start it smokes and clatters and runs like crap. It lit the engine light but I don't have a code reader. I'm guessing I did not get the pump back in the same spot as the one I removed, though I marked the block and attempted to put it in the same position. Any thoughts?

I have also found that it seems to run fine until it reaches about 180 degrees then it starts running badly again.

sorry so wordy!: argh:

Thanks for any help.

Default Update

Took the truck to a local shop that has a tech II. The findings are the pump timing was at 1 degrees and should be set at 3.5 degrees. So timing fixed and it runs like a champ.

The 3.5 degrees is a timeset setting.
The KOKO deals with TDCO and is 1 of the correct procedures but requires a scan tool to display the learned values.

The actual timing that needs to be set is TDCO value and it should be in the range of -0.25 to -0.75 for factory settings.

A value in the range of -1.50 to -1.94 would be a performance setting.

Glad they got your truck to run well just would be nice if they used the correct terms and svalues to explain what was done.
