ok the way i read it was open the bottle around a 1/4 to 1/2 turn than open the gauge valve until the pressure reads 3-8 (for 1/4" steel) then open the oxygen tank slow at first than the rest of the way . then open the gauge valve all the way.

both bottles are straight up and always have been except when I transported them but they sat for 24 hours before I even hooked the gauges up. was that bad?

the valve that controls the third **** on the handle that controls the oxy when the handle is down what should that be set like?

I was wondering if you have some crusty in your fittings. Sometimes dirt get in there and fouls things up some. Or you may just have a bad tip.

You 2 ***** at the torch base. Acetylene and Oxy.

Make sure the Oxy **** up further on the shaft is shut.

Open the acetylene **** at the torch base a little bit. Just enough to light and get some soot but not a ton.

Open the Oxy **** next to it All the way.

Then open the Oxy **** up on the side of the torch just enough to get your flame set.

I think I figured the issue out.

when I tried this weekend I noticed that after I set the pressure on my gas I did the pressure on my oxy.
I grab my striker and cracked the gas valve and looked at the gauge for the gas and there was not pressure. so I turned the valve off on the handle and looked at the gauge again and it was rising. so I cracked the valve again and it dropped to zero again. so I think I might have a regulator problem or something.
isnt the pressure supposed to stay pretty constant?

Should never move. I can't tell ya what it should be right now without lookin at my guages but it should never move. I don't do any weldng with my torches anymore, just for cutting and bolt removal but I haven't adjusted my pressures in years. The setting there on does everything there is.
