Try making up some jello, but drink it warm instead of putting it in the fridge. It's filling so it should help with the needing food thing. Other good thing is if you puke it up it still tastes good coming up...

I grew up drinking warm Jello when I was sick, good stuff..

i take Tramadol with a Tylenol 4 times a day for my shoulders and back. if you don't eat it'll make you a lil loopy, more drunk acting really, according to my doc it's not addictive but does work. i've gone a whole month on it non stop and then not had to take it until this cold weather came in. it dosen't make me feel hungover like the darvoset use to make me feel when i first started taking them. i can take them 4 times a day and still work. i've taken my fare share of pain killers over the years and to me Tramadol is the best at not making me feel sick, knocking the pain out (or dulling it ehough to function) and i don't feel like i have to take it when i don't need it.

I am loving all the advice here.
If you have an infection and want to take something over the counter Aleve is one of the best or well better then advil cause when you have an infection or a bad tooth ache your nerves are inflammed witch there for Aleve is better cause it has anti-inflamtory in it.
All pills can be harmful if taken often and yes your body will get inmune to it if you take something for a long time and then you need stronger meds.
Inwitch is not ur case just refurring to what i read in here.

The best option is getting to the doctor and getting it treated.
Their is warnings on everything you take these days. I could give ya a list.
Make sure you do eat before you take anything.
I never cared for oralgel cause it only works for a min then it's gone...
If you don't mind me asking what are you having done to your tooth?
I only ask cause if you ever have an extraction, do not swoosh salt water afterwards and also nothing that forms any kind of suction like drinking thru a straw, spitting, anthing like it you can get dry sockets that way. they are painful. Anything that forms a suction cause a dry socket.

Please feel free to ask me anything I love helping people. I wish I could make you feel better but it might take a few days to recover from just feeling sick....

i wish i could find something that would stop the pain in my shoulders and back, i have permanent injuries and no matter what i take it dosent help me, plus my high tolerance for pain dosent help much either, stuff like advil, tylenol, aleve dosent do anything for me, so i dont take anything and just bear the pain til it goes away, IF it even does.....

#1 thing is just be careful and dont get hooked on anything guys and gals, the results are not good..........trust me, ive seen it first hand..............

I always tell my patients that make sure they take meds with food and not on an empty tummy.
If you were my patient I would tell you to get another perscription for nausea. it helps.
Agreed!

It's very rare to have an actuall allergy to narcotics. Many people get nausea, sometimes an ichy rash(more with IV administration), drossiness, but these are all actually side effects and not allergies. Many of these you build a tolerance too over time and they will go away, it's just a matter of whether one can tolerate that phase.
The tramadol mentioned earlier is a good option. NOt classified as a narcotic, but give similar pain relief and Tyl#3(tylenol with codeine) ...you want a drug with nausea, this is it.

Permanent injuries are definitely tough. No one likes to take pain meds the rest of their life, but if it's debilitating, that is the best option. The first hurdle is finding a good pain doctor that is not afraid to prescribe opioids. There are some good long acting ones out there and the risk of abuse is low if it's used for a legitimate reason.
Definitely worth discussion.??

Well I cut a few pills in half for when I get off work today and Im gonna see what that does. If I still feel sick or if half a pill just dosent do anything for me I will call the dentist and see if they can write me a new prescription. Hopefully I can get in tomorrow to have my root canal done. Has anyone on here had a root canal, how did you feel the next day. I have read alot of mix reviews some people say there was no pain after the root canal and some say they HAD to take pain pills.

it depends some people have a high tollarence then others. I am soo not bragging but girl i have had a few root canals and never really had issues the next day. I also have a high tollarence for pain.

Also we have a word for this "hot tooth" witch means a person who has a bad infection could cause you to be sore after treatment is done.
In most patients are good the day after maybe just some tenderness.
But cause of the infection it can cause "some" patients to feel more, witch you might be sore but I truelly think you will be ok to work next day, but I am not promising that.
It's not like an extraction where it does take days to recover from.
By no means I am not saying it's like getting a filling, but i think you will be ok.

Do tell me how it goes!!!!! I am so into dental and trying to help.
