Robby Gordon is arguably the best pure driver in NASCAR. From CART/IRL to Cup to SCCA Pro-Rally to Baja to dirt tracks, Robby has driven everything under the sun and been a winner every place he's strapped in.

Kenny Schrader in my opinion ranks a close second.

The cool thing about Robby is, all the haters' opinions of his rough driving aside, is he owns his own teams....NASCAR, SCORE, he owns them all. Driving and ownership alone are two very high stress high responsibility jobs, and to see a guy successfully drive his own deal at the highest levels of multiple racing series' is simply amazing.

For the record, if I drove Cup I'd dump Michael Waltrip, too...that guy just bugs me. He's the perfect example of 1) running on a name only and 2) what happens when un-talented people try to do too much---he owns and drives for his own abomination of a deal, too.....

Slightly off topic, maybe a thread hijack, but look how quick Juan Pablo Montoya excelled in Cup.........makes me wonder what Michael Schumacher could do in the series.....

I'm a fan of Tony, Robby and the like simply because of how they drive and the emotion they put into driving.. those guys to me are the real drivers and it sucks to see them get screwed by stupid rules and NASCAR execs... (ie. Robby in Canada)

And ole Montoya is a rubbin-is-racin kinda guy too.. that dude flat out doesn't care (not saying I like him, but still...)

Robby Gordon is the closest thing to what NASCAR used to be.

If it weren't for mechanical difficulties or his own self-destructive tendencies, he'd never lose a road course event, and with the right amount of backing (there we go again...) he'd be a major contender for the Cup.

Speaking of Robby Gordon, when he had the little bumper car fiasco with Marcus Ambrose in the Busch race up yonder north.......shortly thereafter at Watkins Glen Gordon fielded a second car (77) for the Cup race.

Who was the driver?

Marcus Ambrose.....
