Agreed... Not the truck at fault... The drunk driver... And the dumb girl walking that close to a lifted truck.

There are multiple contributing factors to this accident. Alcohol obviously is primary. Stupidity is a good bet too. But don't discount the size of the truck as a major contributing factor.

My trucks are only lifted 3" but I always try to back in or pull through, because even at that height small cars can disappear from under the tailgate at just the wrong viewing angle.

Don't think the truck itself has nothing to do with it.

Its a sad case of a under educated person owning a jacked up truck. a truck that high is, to me anyways, a show truck. There is no real use to it being that big. I can see having a DD that is lifted 6 inches, but even then it almost seems to be useless as a truck. When we get guys like this driving a truck with god knows how much lift, this type of incident is bound to happen. Let alone if he was to hit a another vehicle hauling a family. You throw some booze into the mix, its a death trap boys.

Now for her, she obviously wasnt paying attention, had the age old attitude of "pedestrians have the right way" and just walked. Always be aware of your surroundings and the dangers out there. It will save you not only pa, but possibly your life, as she could tell you.

Even with all that being said, I was about hit by 2wd S-10 the other day walking to my truck in the hooters parking lot. I was aware of what was about to happen when i say the back up lights come on. I gave the truck a knock on the bed and guy immediately stopped when he saw me. Was I right? no, I should not have been walking that close to a vehicle that was running and in gear going in between rows of parking spots. But i was aware of what i was around and avoided a potentially dangerous situation.

I'm not getting into a pissing match with you guys cause clearly I've got the disadvantage, but i also have an opinion. First off that truck in the article is way over the top, the headlights are over the legal limit for any state. I don't care that he moved them down, it's still illegal. That truck is clearly just a compenstation for a small..... you fill in the blank.

Our truck is a daily driver, plus we use it to pull the dozer and backhoe and it is lifted a total of 14". It was completely rebuilt from ground up and it passed WV's strict inspection laws. I spent every other weekend for a year in 1991 lobbying at the state capital and working with the WV state police to get a lift law everyone could agree on. I think we did okay with a bumper height of 31" anything higher than that you are asking for trouble.

I do feel terrible for the young lady's family and also for the guy that hit her, he will have to live with what he did for the rest of his life. We may not all agree on what type of truck to drive lifted, lowered or stock, but it is our right.

Okay I'm done this 50 year old woman has spoke her mind, now try to pry my gun from my hands.
