You do realize the vast selection of jobs in the Army right?? Not everyone is a grunt, just as not everyone in the AF is a pilot. My MOS transfers to civilian VERY easily. My certs are all NATIONALLY recognized. I did my training with AF, USMC, USN and DoD Civilians. When i am at my home duty station, I wear civilian uniform to work, i work civilian schedule, and i train with the civilians.

Ok, an if this comes off as offensive, i am sorry, its not meant to be that way. Whichever branch you choose, if oyu choose to do so, . It takes a special person to be able to hack it. God luck and keep your head on straight.

Went in today and boy am I disappointed. I didn't get any info on the 2 jobs I'm looking at that I didn't already know. I took the little test they give, forget what it was called exactly but I got a 50 on it. The guy said I was "highly qualified" and the only thing stopping me from joining is my recent hernia surgery. He's going to talk to his commander and see if that can be waived with a doctors note though. He also said that "the Army is full and there is a waiting period" to ship out to basic. Anywhere from 3-5 months. He's supposed to call me either tonight or tomorrow after talking to his commander. He didn't really seem to want to do his job. My sister is going to talk to the recruiter that she knows and try to get some better answers.

Hmm, I Should have guessed that as well. The problem is you got people that are staying, some of those ppl should be kicked out for worthless soldiers. I know people that cannot pass a pt test, pop hot on pee tests and are STILL in the army. and a wiating period of 3-5 months isnt bad, it gives you some time to enjoy life and hangout with friends and family. I would have rather had that then my immediate ship date.

I didn't mention that the guy I talked to today also said 6 months until I can sign up, for me to heal up from my surgery unless I can get a doctor's note. My sister was talking to one of the recruiters that she's friends with and he's ok with answering any questions that we might have, he just can't actually recruit me. He said that if I sign papers now, that I'd be heading off to basic end of February beginning of March. I've been checking out different posts' websites trying to figure out where I might want to go. I think I might like Fort Carson in CO. It might make me feel like I'm still at home. I'm going to try to go into my high school tomorrow and get my records, it should have my ASVAB score on it too.

Carson is nice. Tat is where i am stationed and i am hopng to stay to finish of my contract. haha. On the same hand, i stil hate colorado seeing how i am a midwest guy, born and raised in southern Indiana.

Now to play dvils advocate, are you sure you want to leave and go to someplace tat is jsut like home?? Why not go to someplace different? Alaska, Germany, Hawaii? But you may not get a choice of where you go, jsut a wish list that you MAY get one of those duty stations.

You should look at the Air Force over the Army. That is my opinion if you are looking at metal work.
