Still better than 12-15 for the Army. With random announcements halfway through that you may be getting extended.

Edit: To clarify, a standard Iraq deployment in the Army is 12 months. Some units in Afghan only do 6 or 8 but they deploy twice as often.

 

I think you'll have a better chance of getting the mos you want to do in the AF, was going to join the AF last year but I was already 28 and if your older than 28 you have to have at least a 4yr degree to join them

 

Talked to the AF recruiter today and got the same 6 month wait story AND I have to lose 18-20 pounds. He gave me a booklet with all kinds of info in it to read.
