Nice ride DM!
It's hard to beat a good quad. I've got an '08 Polaris 700 X2 that has treated me very well so far. It's a yard work doin, firewood fetchin, snow pushin beast! A 60" Razor plow, set of good tire chains on the rear and 240lbs of sand bags in the "bed" combined with my fat *** and it's amazing the amount of snow it'll shove around.
On a side note, have you ever rode in Wayne National Forest? There isn't CRAP available up here as far as ATV trails are concerned and we're thinking of heading down there this coming week while on vacation.

IRS is nice if you do a lot of trail ridin on steep or uneven terrain, but for spinnin the *** end around solid axle is definitly the way to go. I used to love blowin doughnuts on the snow and Ice on my 98 Grizzly 600, man I miss that thing. Looks like a nice ridin spot you have there DM, NY state sucks for public ridin areas except for snowmobiler's
