ASE's are one hundredth as expensive and ten times more valuable.
I'm a UTI grad (with the AoS degree), and in my three months of looking I discovered that it was a liability to put it the word "UTI" anywhere in my resume. There are way too many idiots from UTI in the job force that gives the school a bad name. And the school makes no attempt to weed out the idiots, so I don't blame employers for NOT hiring somebody based on the fact that they're UTI graduates. UTI will continue to be a waste up until and for around ten years after they make the curriculum substantially more challenging and teach to the highest denominator instead of the lowest, which is never going to happen because the lowest denominator pays the bills.
Employers have substantially more respect for people that are ASE-certified than UTI graduates. Only the brightest UTI graduates can pass the ASE's right out of school.
