Really, clearly British Sarcastic humour is lost on my American friends. Shawn of the dead was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen! 
Hot Fuzz should be no different, although I have not yet seen it.
My guess is that Ricky Bobby is more funny to most then? Unfortunately I thought that was trying too hard and lacked in many areas.
My opinion of course but hey to each his own.
