Turning your smart phone into a Modem

I was thinking the same thing. ****, even our email is regulated for download Gb's up here. Go over and it's $30/Gb! That's one plus about living in civilization, cheap communications.

I dunno.. my speeds are comparable to low end dsl. I usually get around 1.5mbps down 500kbps up i've done a few speed tests and ended up a hair above 2mbps which is pretty close to the 3.6mbps that network is rated for. cant wait for the 7.2 upgrades!
it's a plus too using it as a modem and still being able to take calls, when I had sprint it was always either or.

they are nice and responsive, seem to "just work" and as tempting as it is i dunno how i would do texting, or typing this on my Q9H right here on a full touch screen phone. got my daughter an ipod touch and man it's fun to play with!
iphone= congested data networks... I would hate to see what would happen to another carrier if they got iphones too

Does this work with the blackberrys? I was thinking of getting a wireless card for my laptop for work but if I can upgrade to a blackberry and beable to link through the blackberry then I will just get one of them? I am a little bit technically challenged when it comes to computers but am learning more everyday . Any advice on what to do for my work laptop to be able to acess my office network outside of the office would be great be it a wireless card or by the blackberry. I would really like to upgrade to the blackberry if that would get me what i need.

BE CAREFUL!!
I read this post the other night, downloaded it and gave it a shot. Works awesome, easy to figure out, and pretty damn fast. Paid my bill Monday, so i was a bit frustrated when i tried to make a call this morning and found out my service was cut off. After a half hour on the phone, found out that tethering is NOT included with a data plan, as i have unlimited data.
$8 / MEGABYTE!
I managed to rack up $300 with it in about 15 minutes, carrier would only take it down to $100.
Blackberry 8330 on Telus network, which i thought was the Canadian Version of Verizon.
