I would imagine your first day will be mostly orientation, so it shouldn't be too bad.

I don't know if Goodman makes their own coils or in that plant anyways, but lacing coils looks like the hardest job in an HVAC factory to me. The JCI plants in Oklahoma and Kansas make all the condenser coils in house, it is a line up of the most stressed out women you've ever seen working. They say men just can't do that job efficiently so it's all women lacing coils all day long 24/7. I wouldn't want to try it that's for sure

I know a couple factory managers, we talk about the joys of babysitting employees a lot. All they want is for you to do the job at the pace they show you and not create any drama. They absolutely hate people that bring down the teams culture with outside drama. If you are a team player and do the work, you'll be fine.

and just remember... it's not like you were born with the skills for your job...

you will need to adopt and though you screw up a few first times, you'll just have to learn...

Good Luck...

You made it through your first day. That's half the battle right there. Being in a production environment, you'll get a rhythm going as you get more familiar with your job. As for them putting you in what everybody else calls the hardest job on the line.. it's only as hard as you make it.. Since it's all new to you, they're all going to be hard til you figure out what you're doing and what it takes to keep things flowing. We all had to start somewhere. Try as best you can to memorize the steps you have to go through, and then write them down on your break. (think cheat sheet) Between that and your co-workers helping you out and teaching you little tricks here and there, you'll get the hang of it in no time. Try to think one step ahead and eventually it will become habit.
Check with your supervisor and see if they have any barrier cream. That should help with your allergy to the gloves. Either that or a liner that you're not allergic to.

Holy cow , thats what work is like thats why they call it work and your low on the totem pole so your going to get the crap jobs and have to work your way up to a better position. When i first started in a factory i had the **** job with no training at all , walked threw the door and was led to a line and told someone would show up to releave me and dont leave until some one shows up ...which was 8 hours later when the next shift came in they forgot about me evidently but after that i was like break time already ?

When you start doing anything out of the normal its going to be hard , your using muscles your not used to using , it takes a few weeks for your body to adapt and build where you need it for what your doing , give you a month at that same job and you would be kicking *** , you cant expect to walk in and be perfect . getting yelled at and cussed at is normal , check your feelings at the door , real life isn't easy either get on the bus or be ran over by it .

I ran a line that was pointing North for 3 years and was always performing the same tasks in the same direction , i would kick its *** day after day and be ready for more when it was time to leave .... i moved to a line thats the EXACT same thing ran the same material and everything but it was pointing south and everything was backwards , my first few days was hell but after that it was the back to the same ol' grind .

Factory workers need to have the Thick Shell around them , find away to have fun and still get your job done

In my classification now , theres no "not good enough" its obvious before you get to be an operator if you can do it , willingness means nothing if you cant do the job. Theres a few guys that are a nervous wreck everyday , i just have fun sometimes i screw something up but i learn from it and move on , theres been times where im at work more than im at home so im going to enjoy it . now my line can be engulped in flames and i just walk out and put it out fix it and start it back up with out batting an eye , 9 years ago i would be like OH **** !!!!! and be freaking out
