I took the oath to defend the Constitution and to obey the orders of the president of the United States. However, if they conflict, what is one to do? For me, the Constitution would take priority.
If you take the Oath as an officer, it states to defend the Constitution and doesn't mention the president. it is the same as the Oath for the National Guard.
For some it would be a tough situation to be in.

 

I have a feeling a lot of military and police are going to be facing some very difficult decisions on defending the constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic in the near future. I know quite a few cops are starting to really seriously think about what happens when they're ordered to disarm or confiscate firearms from upstanding citizens based on a technicality...because the average cop is still in favor of law abiding citizens being armed.

Yes, but a cop has a job to do, and if he doesn't do it he'll be fired. By the time all this comes around, he probably won't be able to survive without his job... I sure don't envy them, especially when many Americans are better armed than they are.

 

Yeah you're definitely right about that. and a step further, not only will they face losing their job and possibly house but depending on what the controversy is over may face criminal charges for which they'd do hard time and be indefinitely disarmed. under that pressure, very few cops are going to stand up for what's right.

 

All i can say is that if they do attempt to take our weapons eventually it will have to be on a house to house basis and there will be alot of loss of life because of obamas attempt to turn our nation into a socialist country.
