Default Robertson Screws- Holy Crap

My Canuckistani uncle came down to Summer, and he's a carpenter, so he decided he wanted to have something to do, so he decided to redo our laundry room.

He decided to bring down a few pounds of Robertson screws with him.

Holy crap guys. I have no idea how the hell Canuckistan hasn't conquered the world yet. These things aren't even comparable to Phillips heads. They work infinitely better in every possible way. I will never use any Phillip-headed fastener again for the rest of my life without stating how completely worthless they are. They're hardly even worth using. You can take your Pozidrives and Torx's and shove those too.

Why the heck can't I get these things local? I want Robertson panheads, sheetmetal screws, deck screws, drywall screws, and trim screws. Robertson is the golden god of fasteners.

Square drives aren't slightly tapered like Robertson screws are, so they don't grip quite as well. They're a knock-off.

I've never seen them in the Southwest. None of the hardware stores around here have them. I've only ever seen them on the occasional odd machine.

You can get them here

McFeely's Square Drive Screws - Screws, Fasteners, Festool Power Tools and more

I used them all the time for installing cabinets, countertops, doors, windows, etc. The customer some times would object since they did not have a bit that would take them out or tighten them if necissairy, so I carried a large container of spare bits and would give them one if they complained. I have never stripped one, never had any problem with one either. They are superior to the phillips and straight IMHO.
