So why is this forum considered a joke from the outside? I'm just wondering of course. I mean there is a great section with tech articles and write ups, plus there are sections for each of the Big 3. This forum has a lot to offer, and it's not as uptight as places like CF. So there are three sections on here that are off topic, why does that make us a joke?

in the beginning, this site was formed by the black sheep of the diesel community. we were the ones banned by Larry @DTR, banned by Andy at CF, or banned from any other site. while all the other sites were selling out to the bigger internet conglomerates, Diesel Minded (Chad Embry, the old owner) preached loudly about how this site was not for sale and never would be, even told some tales about how he was approached by people and offered STUPID amounts of money to buy the site and he turned them down. THEN all of a sudden he turned and sold the site to Internet Brands and screwed over A LOT of people in the process. since Internet Brands took over it hasn't been the same. it went from a site by the members for the members, to a site by the members for the pocket books of Internet Brands and ultimately the paycheck of Robb M. all the Moderators and previous Admin worked and ran the site for free. for free, nada, zip, zilch, nothing other than, well I never even got a thank you from them while I was on staff....

I stepped down and devoted the time I was devoting here, for free to benefit the bottom line of IB, to my wife and son. I am enjoying every minute and do not regret it a bit, though it saddens me to see a site that I have given YEARS of my life to and THOUSANDS of hours in helping build and moderating and building friendships on ran into the ground so hard and so fast by a company that does not care about the members.

here are examples of what he said in the past.

Thanks for your interest in the site However Diesel Bombers and its members are not for sale.

I told them to go pound sand.

Its not about the Money here I wish people could see that! Diesel Bombers is Driven By Passion. It wasn't built because it was a prime market , it was built because this is what we love.

Rather anyone else sees Diesel Bombers as a success , To Us Its already accomplished everything we have dreamed of and more. And we will never stop.

This site from the ford section stand point was always a joke. This site is made up of Dodge guys with ford and Chevy as the minorities.

and you wonder why there are no longer any Admins on here...

Because we lack the technical experts that you'll find gracing every other serious forum. Look at CompD. There's no reason this place couldn't be that place. That place has every big hitter in the diesel community on there. The fastest and most powerful diesel trucks in the world are on CompD. Plain and simple.

With that said, this doesn't have to be a twin of CompD. I think part of the charm of DB is that it IS different. However, I still think it can be drastically improved.

Take another look sometime, the 6.0 powerstroke section has more viewers a day than ANY of the dodge sections currently. The 7.3 section isn't far behind. Obviously this was a Dodge site for the most part back in the day, but the Ford section is growing substantially. The Chevy section on the other hand...

Guys, is it really worth getting into all of this? We don't need discussions on what is classified as **** or not. What we're looking for is your OPINIONS on what you want to see here and not see here. Suggestions on improving the site. Digging up old stuff isn't going to help this progress. If you don't like the **** here, just say so. If you don't care, say so. If you love it, just tell us! That's all we want to know. Another thing... **** is not the only subject at hand here. The ENTIRE SITE is. ANYTHING that you think can use some improvements, or be removed/added...whatever, just voice some opinions here. Tell us why you think DB is great, or why you think it sucks. Arguing about what is classified as **** or not is not getting us anywhere.

12vand proud, you're absolutely right, the badlands does have other topics. It's just sad to see some guys spend so much time there and not participate in the other aspects of the site. This will never grow as a diesel site if everyone is in badlands all the time, plain and simple.

FWIW, Ryan (rawilliams) has signed off with no intentions of coming back...

Joe (CSIPSD) is currently under an IP ban... though I'm not really sure he wants to come back either.

Both guys are an ASSET to this place.

That sucks really no point in me staying because whenever i have a question ryan or jerrod answer it. Heres my opinon dont care about badlands **** it can stay thats not what keeps me here. But we dont need three damn threads about the same thing i.e. demotivational thread,WTF thread. Drop some of the sub fprums thay are never used like no posts in year or so. Focus on the tech sections, and advertisement for getting others in here.

Yep, nothing like running off or banning the guys who contribute the most....

It's like the fat lady is spooling up to sing the death song here......

We did reorganize a little bit, and we did drop a couple, though I'm sure there are more we would like to drop. It is/was being discussed, but that is up to IB from what I understand. We can make suggestions all day long, but they hold the key to making those changes specifically.

We are all ears to make changes that improve the experience for the community. Just come up with a list of suggestions, and why, and we can start to work through them.

One theme I note in this thread, is the idea of placing a gate on the badlands, so that you need a certain number of posts to get in there. I am not at all averse to this suggestion. What would be a good limiter? 15 posts maybe?
