Probably wasnt the drivers fault. It was probably the guys in the trucks that are ussually in front of and behind big loads like that. He was probably just following those guys.

wt hell, ......are you talking about? If a pilot truck makes it across and the driver doesnt its the pilot cars fault?
Maybe the driver shoulda got out and checked it out himself....most bridges have load restrictions.. if this one did, its his own fault....btw, hes not real smart to go out and walk anywhere on a bridge or load thats about to go into the river..........

Just so we can clarify, we are not all stupid or idiots who drive trucks and make mistakes, everyone does it everyday in every profession. DD
Not to pick er anythin double D, but only once have I EVER let a boss or dispatcher tell me, the driver what to do with my truck, and it could have cost my life or someone elses.
(ie. drivin non stop fer 24 hours)
WE are the driver, and WE are in charge, aint no cop, boss, dispatcher or anyone else will ever MAKE me do somethin with a truck I know is unsafe, me and me alone is responsibe for what happens while I am operating my truck. Even if it costs me my job. (there are people to report that kinda BS to.)
Anyway, in the drivers defence, it could been a weakened bridge, or anything, but judging by the sheer fact even the tractor used the WHOLE single lane of the bridge........

Old thread, I know, but...

You O.K.ed it with your boss man? And got written confirmation right? Soon as a bridge drops he'll say" Nope, never told him to do that, we stress safety, safety, safety over anything else. Clear violation of company policy, he's fired!"
