Electrical Gremlins - 300SDL Part I
I recently purchased a 1987 Mercedes 300SDL. I got a great deal on it, but it has issues. It has Electrical GREMLINS
The car has a slippy tranny and also needed to be started in Neutral. After a few weeks the tranny seemed to be shifting fine...with a occasional slip. IDK, how long the car was sitting before I started driving it? The fluid looked great and smelled good. Anyway, back to my electrical problem
Also, not knowing "how" to work the central locking system or either it not working at all, I pulled the door lock/actuator/**** of the rear, driver door off of whatever it was connected to. There is no way for me to open that door Ok, Do you know how to open the door?
So, winter came along and I realized that the blower motor wasn't working and I didn't have any heat. I took it apart and the motor itself was fine. My #15 fuse always blows...can't even seat it in the unit. Anyway, some snooping on the net had me thinking it might be the relay. I went to a guy's home to buy the part...and the car broke down in his driveway
Turns out it was the neutral safety switch. So, my issue with starting the car has gone bye-bye and, get ready ...my blower motor started working Well, kinda. It seems to come on and go off when it wants to. Not to mention, there still is no heat.
I need some help. I probably should have came here and asked before? I have a guy telling me that it may be a heat actuator in the door...(possibly the door that's stuck closed?...that I pulled the **** off of?) Until about an hour ago, I didn't even know that a heat door blend actuator existed.
If you were me (broke $ & a 6 outta 10 on a shade tree mechanic scale) where would you start with resolving this problem?
