Default 7.3 on the way out

i got a idi 7.3 with 294xxx on it oil pressures in the ******* its burinin coolant injection systems shot im about to just swap a motor would it be unwise to drop a 6.9 in it if its cheap?

nope. just put your harness onto the 6.9. you will need to swap glowplugs over, and your alternator and belt setup(assuming you have a serpintine belt) but externally they are the same.

my 86 f250 with 6.9 and the ATS turbo makes 160 hp and 321ftlbs at the wheels.
my 94 f350 with 7.3 and the banks turbo made 154 hp and 318ftlbs at the rear wheels.


just depends on the way the motor is.


stock settings they are only 15 hp apart.

what you think is is the most boost you could run on a 7.3

According to the folks @ Banks, 10 lbs. is the most you should run.

nothing more than 15 psi MAXXED OUT....ive seen 18 but your beggin for problems.... i would find a 7.3 and go with that .... 6.9's have a tendoncy to cranck heads for no apparent reason

and 7.3's cavitate for no apparent reason. do what you wish.
