Default Front Oil Seal

I believe I have found a new problem in this saga of making this thing right. Found oil leaking around the area of the front seal. Can anyone tell me how hard this would be to replace it and how I would go about doing it?

Thanks,
Sandman

Correction everyone. Looks like an oil pan gasket leak. Besides draining the oil and pulling the pan, is it very tough to do?

Thanks,
Sandman

very hard to do it in the truck. engine needs to be picked up to clear the pan from the oil pickup. also do not buy a gasket. just use GOOD rtv. from the factory all it has is rtv. using a gasket will seal it up, but only for a few miles. i recomend Right Stuff RTV.

Trying to make her right. I appreciate all the help that I can get.

Thanks again,
Sandman

P.S. 99.9% sure that it is the oil pan gasket.

you can use that, but make sure both surfaces (block and pan) are CLEAN before installing.

Cool. Thanks. I was visiting Bud Light last night when I read your reply. I will take the gasket back. Don't use a gasket even if you permatex both sides?
Thanks,
Sandman

Will I have to raise it up as high if I drop the oil pick-up tube?

no, but it will be very hard to get it bolted back up with the pan in the way.

and dont use the gasket. .

how i would do it.

drain oil and coolant.
unhook fan shround and pull rad out, for clearance reasons.
unbolt motor mounts.
use engine hoist and pick motor up as far as you can.
loosen pan and see if it clears. if it doesnt, might have to undo trans mount and slide it forward some so the engine can come up more.

Sounds like I should just pay a shop to do it. Thanks D.C.
