Default Transmission

I knowingly did wrong after Mdub07 and many more warned me, but what the heck im a 19 year old kid. well i kept my bullydog triple dog on my truck at extreme for the past 6 months probably and know my tranny is slipping i think....not sure it will like kick when it shifts and a yesterday it wouldnt shift out of first gear it just kept red lining well i would like to fix my tranny myself if possible i am at least a little mechanically inclined! i also would like to throw in a few parts to insure it too hold up a litte better than stock but i need help with what would be good upgrades. I have egr delete arp head studs cold air intake stacks with straight pipe and in the future want bigger injectors and turbo thanks for the help fellow Bombers! < my short story>

Stock transmissions hold up great, with correct tuning. If you fix it, get rid of the bullydog and get custom tunes with an SCT, and you'll be amazed at the power the stocker holds. That's the beauty of the 5R110's, they're able to be tuned. Allisons can't be tuned, which is why they grenaded with measly 100hp programmers. We have a GREAT trans, but if you don't treat it right, it wont treat you right.

I know when I get ready to do my transmission I am going to go with a suncoast rebuild kit. I have heard however, that it doesnt come with all of the gaskets and seals but people I talk with over on powerstroke.org on like them so that is what I am going to try out when I can with their torque converter. Hope this helps. I know for rebuilt transmissions people over there recommend in the following order: NADP, BTS, then Suncoast. I just know a remanufactured transmission is going to cost some dough of course it may end up costing more if the transmission gets screwed up by not installing a rebuild kit correctly either.

What kind of power level are you going to be throwing at it? If your answer is under 600hp, I find it hard to even recommend changing anything other than maybe the torque converter with a different stall setup to accomodate certain turbos. Most people don't realize the stock 5R110 has a triple disk converter factory.
