I own a Ford A-series Camper with a Mitsubishi Turbo Diesel Intercooler.
Also used in the early Ford Rangers.

that is a very interesting looking engine, looks pretty straightforward though, not sure I like the radiator style hose used on the turbo/intercooler area

 

if it's anything like their 4 cyl turbo gas engines, it will be very durable and easy to make power with. Hopefully you can tune the injection pump....

I think the intercooling is a home build extra ...
Don't now a much extra's it will give.

On the car papers, they talk about 62kw.
On the internet about 64kw.

It does accelerate the 3tons bigfront nicely, turbo kicks in.
At staddy speeds it has sometimes some problems.,

Drove the car 200km to my home, touch ones 100km/h (about 70 mph).
With a nieuw airfilter and better placement of the intercooler and better pipping there must be some Kw to win ....
