Default Very random starting issue

Ok, Db electrical starter has maybe 10k on it, fender starter relay in a month old, batts are year old and good, all wiring I can think of was cleaned and tight, electrical switch under steering wheel was removed cleaned and everything is in working order. My issue it when I can in the truck and turn the key over to start the truck I have a random delay. Sometimes it fires right up and others I have had up to a 2 sec delay till truck turns over. And then on a very rare occasion the truck will not do anything at all when the key is turned over. When it is doing this I have tried jumping the relay under the hood and it does the same thing nothing. I have been fighting this damn gremlin for months now and just waiting for it to strand me somewhere. Any ideas, I am starting to wonder if it has something to do with my fairly new starter.

When it does this put your test light on the outgoing post first to see if the b+ is actually there,if it is then put your light at the starter terminal to see if you have b+ all the way to your starter motor.Check for corrosion at cable ends-REMOVE-ground cable ends and clean them thorouly.

thanks for input guys, I will check to see if I get power to starter when it does do this. Only question is will I have to have someone hold the key over while I put the probe on terminal? Or can I just leave the key in the on position and check for voltage.

someone has to hold the key on in the start position its the only time that side of the starter solenoid sees power.

ummmmm,, fun....... I will most likely always be by myself when this happens. Guess I can call up db electrical and tell them my issue. starter is less than a year old.
