Probably a stupid newby idea/question/first post, but here goes. Was planning to do a catch can for dual valve cover breather. As my fuel line goes directly from AirDog to VE pump I have the stock water separator just hanging there and the lift pump removed and blocked off with a plate. I was thinking of running the vent line to the lower fitting where fuel went into the block from the lift pump, so any oil from the vent would drain into the water separator canister to use it as the catch can since it is there anyway. Then put a small conical filter vent in the upper hole where the fuel line ran from the block to the VE to open the system up.

Then, looking at that, I was also thinking of threading a fitting to the bottom of the separator canister and running a line from it to a fitting tapped into the block off plate so oil would drain back into the case.

I have no idea of how the fuel passage in the block runs and can not find a schematic of it to see if the oil would freely drain into the canister or not.

Ideas/comments/general mocking?

 

- The fuel passages in the head that serve the fuel-filter circuit are woefully undersized to accommodate the typical volume of gasses exiting the crankcase vents, no matter from the vent on the side of the block or that on the valve-cover. The stock/OEM vent on the side of the block is approximately 3/4" ID. The fuel-filter plumbing, not so much.





- The crankcase pressure that's blowing through the valve-cover vent line, is the same crankcase pressure that will be blowing from the plate you intend to drain to. You'll end up with oil & gasses blowing up into the bottom of your catch-can.

Keep in mind: those gasses coming out of the valve-cover vent, must first pass through the tappet-box, and its stock/OEM vent.
