Default Please help my 6.5td RV, going away in 3 weeks

Hi everyone

got a problem that i thought id sorted last time it appeared but its now worse

got a mechanical pump 6.td in an RV
When first bought it in 2012 it started ok + ran ok'ish, just hesitant + not smooth in higher rpm and very juicy

last year when i went to use it i had a problem, no power, smoked like crazy, hard to start
first thing easy to check was air + fuel filter, air was ok but fuel filter was black + very very bad, new filter + it was a completely new vehicle, revved round very clean whilst stationary + while driving, started easy, much quicker + no smoke, was only driven around 50 miles, all ok

I picked it up other day to prepare for going away, started fine, drove off fine until after around 30 miles + it got very bad very quickly, 25-30mph, LOTS of white smoke, wouldnt rev nicely even in neutral but idle sweet + starts ok

wondered if it was filter blocked, no its still looking new + the fuel is a clear / golden colour when in a cup

im fearing the worst that its main pump or head gasket etc

The problem exists whether its cold or warm

has anyone got any strong ideas as i need it to go away in 3 weeks

many thanks in advance

James

While key on but not running loosen fuel t and observe fuel flow should be a good constant pressured stream

sounds like air is getting into the fuel system use compressed air into fuel tank 10- 15 psi is plenty have someone help you look for drips and puddles.

From a cold start squeeze the upper rad hose-if its hard-compression is getting the cooling system from a head gasket or cracked block/head.

What year is the vehicle/powerplant?
