Ive tried it and after a week the dye is sitting at the bottom of the container and the rest is clear. Around here we get ulsd(15ppm),offroad lsd(500ppm), and some muddy colored stuff which I was told was 1500+ppm which smells bad but runs the best.

IIRC the EPA stated after 10/2010 all diesel made even off road diesel has to be ULSD, so no more LSD unless you got it before they stopped making & selling it.

All ULSD made since 2006 has been ULSD. The ones marked otherwise simply haven't been cleaned and certified for ULSD.

Your Wrong. Below " " is from the EPA website on date for mandated use of ULSD and it shows that I was wrong about the date LSD can no longer be sold. The states of Ca required all diesel sold after June 1 2006 to be ULSD. The EPA rules did require that by June 1, 2006, 80 percent of the highway diesel fuel produced or imported had to be ULSD.

"Although ULSD fuel is the dominant highway diesel fuel produced, EPA does not require service stations and truck stops to sell ULSD fuel. Therefore, ULSD fuel might not be available at every service station or truck stop. Diesel retailers may choose to sell Low Sulfur Diesel fuel instead of ULSD fuel until December 1, 2010, when only ULSD fuel will be available for highway use. The industries involved in the transition are doing all they can to minimize potential inconveniences during the conversion to ULSD fuel."

From another website about ULSD:

By December 1, 2010, all highway diesel fuel will be ULSD. Non-road diesel fuel was required to move to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and further to ULSD in 2010. Railroad locomotive and marine diesel fuel also moved to 500 ppm sulfur in 2007, and will change to ULSD in 2012. There are exemptions for small refiners of nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel fuel that allow for 500 ppm diesel to remain in the system until 2014. After December 1, 2014 all highway, nonroad, locomotive and marine diesel fuel produced and imported will be ULSD.
