Disconnecting the Crank Case Breather
You can just run the hose down the frame rail and let it vent into the atmosphere... You can run it into a catch can of some sort. I've also heard of guys tie it back into the exhaust system.
How do they tie it into the exhaust??
Same idea as how it is tied into your intake but into the exhaust... If it were me, just run hose to the back of the truck somewhere and dump it.
okay while were on this subject, i pulled the turbo off to replace the turbo pedestal and now i have smoke coming out of my hose coming from my air filter to turbo, and it stops as soon as i shut truck off, what does this mean??
Crankcase vapors. It's normal.
i just did this on mine. i got a 3 1/2 PVC coupling and got rid if the factory plastic pipe with the vent port. turned the breather around, and 6' of 5/8 heater hose got me about half way under the cab. i just let it dump there. i should have gotten 3/4 hose tho.
Stupid question, Whats the benefit to the BD ccv kit really? Is it merely an expensive catch can and you don't actually need any sort of extra stuff beyond just a vent hose? Assuming you dont mind the underside of your rig gettin a little oily vapor?
You dont need anything other then a vent... I run mine back to about the fuel tank.
