a question for you guys...... im having mine rebuilt, and i was told to install an external tranny cooler, and i was looking at putting an extra 3 quart tranny pan on it, which one or both should i do???

95powersmoker 04-04-2011 05:52 PM

Definitely do the external tranny cooler... Tru Cool has a nice unit.

From what I have read, the deep pan doesn't really do a whole lot except add more fluid to try to keep cool.

So I would just do the tranny cooler.

i was looking at putting the cooler in front of radiator and adding an external filter, close to the cooler??

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

how big of a cooler should i go with???

95powersmoker 04-04-2011 06:55 PM

Either the Tru Cool 47391 or a 6.0 tranny cooler is what I would do. :c:

i was told a b&m cooler with a fan and thermostat would be bout 140, is this accurate? and are they good stuff, i cant seem to find em on the net for my truck

and wouldnt i need one with the external thermal bypass since my winters are COLD!!!

if u dont completely abuse a manual it will last the life of the truck, seen it done several times. ya an automatic is better for racing and its easier to drive. in a manual the clutch is designed to wear out, and even if u dont completely destroy an automatic transmission its still very expensive to have one rebuilt when it wears out, even at factory specs. some of the heaviest clutches you can buy are still only a fraction of the cost of a built automatic, and much cheaper and easier to work on
