Default Another tune question

This 00 psd had a diablo tuner with it when i bought it,My question is what does a tuner really do?Mess with your timing or fuel curve, fuel pressure, all the above?Reason I ask is that if this tuner is not on 85 or 110 it really runs poor.Terrible!Pops farts blue black smoke, this truck still doesnt make any sense to me.If a psd is lean will it pop like a gasser does?Still runs like poop cold even though it is fairly warm here in MI.

DO not rod on a PSD until the oil temps have come up. You have advanced timing when the oil temps are cold, which is not good for the motor.

All tuners do the same thing more or less. They change the ICP pressures, duty cycles, timing ext... some just do it better then others. Diablo is one of the worst for the 7.3...

But it won't run without it,want to buy from PHP but want to get it running right first.......Just had a thought, this whole time i've been trying to diag this thing the tuners been on the 85 mode, maybe i'm not really getting the correct readings from my scanner.I'll back it out tommorow and see what i get.

we had a hard time last week getting a truck that had a diablo on it to tune back to stock. i was told sometimes the diablos will turn the truck back to "stock" but its not fords version of stock.

Those readings dont tell us anything...

I think that one file is corrupt. You need to bring it back to stock and run it like that for a while, and let us know if anything changes.

Well thats my point, this was stock at the time of readings. In stock mode it runs HORRIBLE,no power,blue/black smoke, pops and farts on throttle, does not matter the temp of the motor when this is going on.
What do you mean one file is corrupt?

Break it out like this...

ICP pressure is X

Duty cycle is X

Dont need to know the injector PW at this point...

You need to get a good scanner on there and run some tests. it should run fine with the tuner removed.

Csi,I have a snap on solus pro,a very nice scanner.
cranking at 60 degrees ambient temp.
oil temp 70
icp voltage 3 volts
icp pressure 2300 psi
inj pressure regulater 34%
This is without the tuner in the truck again it will barely run without it,wouldn't even attempt to drive it this way.0603 and 0605 are common codes that reaccure, seem to be common on tuner trucks reading other post.Cyl contibution test several times occasionly it comes up with #7.Inj buzz test fires all 8 but sometimes a funny sounding one...not all the time.Cant beleive one weak injector to cause this truck not to start cold or run like poop until it is warm, could be wrong.Tuner is back on so I could use it.....didnt get the duty cycle cold with no tuner, could do it warm if you wish.

Pull the valve covers and check all your UVC harnesses and connections.

Dont care about the Volts, keep it simple, Duty Cycle, ICP pressures...
