how do you figure? dont they both use 35 spline inner and 30 outers? not to mention that thoe ford axles are balljoints arent they? and the dodge dana 60's are kingpins

Actually, Dodge CAD axles are 32 spline inners, and 32 spline outers, and they have balljoints also. The 2-piece shaft is a major weak point, and the disconnect in the housing is also a bad spot. So I'd agree that the pre '99 ford 60 is far superior. Not to mention that it has real wheel bearings and locking hubs.

If the Dodge axle is '93 or older, it would be comparable strength-wise to most older Ford 60s.

can i ask why anyone would think there would be a 99 axle under a 91? that dont make any sence. it had that stupid front ford axle t\that everyone wishes the didnt have a solid dodge axle is 10x better than what was under it. in addition last time i checked a free dodge axle is way cheeper than buying an axle if i already have the dodge axle

i was talking about a 89-93 axle. i know they use a 35-30 setup for sure with manual locking hubs as well. im also not a fan of CAD axles, but as hotcummins says, a free dana 60 is a free dana 60. id use a free one a little less weak than an expensive one that wasnt free all day long

He said pre-99 as in 86-99 D60.

How did you find an F-350 that didn't have a D60? It's rare to find a D50 under a 1 ton...or did I miss something and this was a 2wd F-350 you are converting to 4wd?

the dana 50 was only found in 99 on up with the metric style lug pattern. the change of the new body is when they started using dana 50's

what ever it was im glad im putting the dana 60 from my dodge under it especially since it is a leaf spring front no rather than the coil. ok back to the main topic. will a set of 2" add a leafs and 2" shackels be able to match my 4" blocks in the rear to clear 315/75/16?

2" lift shackles will only net a 1" lift. you would need 4" shackles and the add a leafs to match your rear 4" blocks. but that would give you a horrible pinion angle.
