The grid heater is a cold start helper, not an emission part. It comes on any number of diesels in the off-road construction industry where there are no emission controls as well as older diesels without glow plugs. If your in the cold weather you need it to start, otherwise you can delete it. Since you are in Alaska I don't think it's a good idea.

Actually, open that up to everybody, where do you get your air filters, what brand do you use, and how much do they cost?
Just an example....Local O'reilly has the Fram filter for 21.99...

Little up date- oh and I checked around again. The Oriley up here in ak list a number for the cram but doesn't carry them yet. Any who.... S&b installed and it's great. Cruising down the road with about 11k I'm at 750 on egts. Installed the new throttle body with spacer and let me just say this is the best pedal I've ever had for an elec pedal. It really is comparable to a cable and the best part is that little hesitation you have when you let off or the dead spot if you feather it quickly is gone. Grid heater delete was easy and the wires plugged wright into new TB. Very happy camper!
