Not many cracked 6.7 heads I've seen. Most of it comes from the massive amount of cylinder pressure we have with both the bore and stroke being bigger/longer we have a good bit more cp per cylinder. We differ from 6.0s out hg aren't causing catastrophic failures

So with my set up as it is now, should I be worrying about this and checking for back pressure on a regular basis? I haven't shown any obvious signs yet, but yall are making me worry. I didnt realize so many of yall have been having problems with the head gasket.

I would say in your case your risk of a failed HG is minimal. Also as stated before the drive pressure isnt the killer on these truck (although it doesnt help matters any) what kills these trucks is cylinder pressure about the only way to really control cylinder pressure is to control timing and now with the help of EFI Live we can do that. My .02 on your truck is run it until when/or if it starts leaking then vulcan/hg and stud it ,but it may never leak no harder than your pushing it. I have seen the vulcan put on some more than questionable head/block surfaces and as far as I know theyre still holding today of course the flatter the better still applies

my block is one of the ones that should had been resurfaced. but i didnt have the time. i told lazarsmith to get the block as true as he could and i will take the risk. its still holding solid after about 15k & several 12hr 20k pulls. if anyone is having hg probs i would go with the vulcan hg. im running orings also. before i went through 3 cummins hg and never held. also if your in beaumont, port author area dont use (DEJEAN AUTOMOTIVE) there the ones that f'ed my block up with a disk sander . then wouldnt stand behind there work the very next day cause it was alread leaking!!

I spoke with Mike over at LazarSmith and they had discontinued the Vulcan head gasket because he wasnt making anything off of them but he has agreed to make another limited batch of them because of the high demand and the success rate they have. I just ordered one with a steam hole delete kit to eliminate the bubbling issue. How is yours holding up?

It ended up giving up a cpl yrs ago. And 8 done a full engine swap. Fixing to fire ring this head with 625s' studs. The old block I'm going to rebuild and have all the machine work done just for a back up.
